Day 19 of 28DCD: I Can Tell That We Are Gonna Be Friends…or Not

What would someone have to do to become friends with Grawnk?  Alternatively, to become enemies?

Grawnk has never had any friends in the traditional sense. He always had his mother in the stronghold, but while living there, he was mostly ignored by everyone else. In the nontraditional sense, he has Meeko. Grawnk never cared for animals, but has found companionship with Meeko. He values Meeko’s loyalty and acceptance of him. Now, obviously, Meeko is incapable of being shallow, but some of these traits are what would make Grawnk consider someone a friend.

A friend to Grawnk is someone who can accept him for who he is, putting up with his quirks and flaws. Furthermore, a friend should be able to challenge him, and not be afraid to correct him when he is wrong. Loyalty, respect, compatibility, honesty, compassion.

Grawnk has the ability to be forgiving, so it would take a bit of doing for him to consider someone an enemy. Unfortunately in Skyrim, it takes a lot less doing because Grawnk has made enemies with dozens of bandits and Forsworn. So, a good way to become enemies with Grawnk is to wantonly attack him, or try to kill him. He does not like that. A good rule of thumb is if you are already a bandit or member of the Forsworn, you are enemies of Grawnk. Also, wolves and horkers for good measure. Fuck those guys.

Being Grawnk’s father makes you an enemy of Grawnk. Anyone who has ever said, “Oh, like a jester?” when Grawnk has told them he wants to become a bard.

  1. “Also, wolves and horkers for good measure. Fuck those guys.” and “Being Grawnk’s father makes you an enemy of Grawnk. Anyone who has ever said, “Oh, like a jester?” when Grawnk has told them he wants to become a bard.”
This made me laugh so hard my wife asked if I was losing my mind. I don’t know why but god I just found it perfectly funny, not to mention completely fitting for Grawnk.

  2. Horkers and their big, dumb faces.

I liked this. I loved the line “Being Grawnk’s father makes you an enemy of Grawnk.” I could hear him saying it, like Grawnk-with-Khajiit grammar structure.
